Alyssa is on day two of her new preschool, this is Dylan’s first FULL week of 5 days in a row at school. Honestly I need to give myself a moment to actually take in all these rather BIG life changes. 7 months into Dan passing, we’ve had so many firsts already and more big life changes its quite dizzying. Alyssa is doing well as predicted her first two drop offs have gone fine and she’s been straight outside playing on the playground, however its MESSY. Her first day she got pink paint all over her clothes and shoes – sigh. Preschool is messy apparently! So none of her “pretty dresses” will be able to be worn unfortunately, i’m going to go to the second hand shop tomorrow and see if I can get some cheap pants/shorts, tops and sweatshirts for her in darker colours perhaps that it doesn’t matter if they get stained and that’s her “preschool clothes”. Dylans made one little friend at school and its really cute. He’s also being exposed to lots of different kids and the school goes up to 13. I am worried as he doesn’t really know how to deal with bullying or big kids being dicks etc, I just have to hope he feels safe enough to move away from anyone being mean to him or hurting him, and to tell a teacher and me at home. I feel like he goes to school then comes home and I have to un-school him! I still have to talk to the teacher about how much tv they watch and why. Every time I have shared with them at the end of the day they watch someone read a book on the tv while the teacher sits beside the tv instead of reading them a book themselves, i’m met with WTF and that’s so lazy. It just seems fucked to me. And come on, we all know the studies about kids and screen time and how it affects their behaviour – you’d think the school would not want to cause worse behaviours making their jobs harder!
